Finnair adds Bodo, Ljubljana and Milan-Linate to summer options

Finnair is to fly to Bodo, Ljubljana and Milan's Linate Airport in summer 2023, additions the flag carrier said would take its European route network to over 50.

Popular destinations, such as Berlin, Copenhagen, Vilnius and Riga, are to get extra flights for the summer season, the flag carrier said, while the Linate option will add to the flights available to Milan, where Finnair has long been flying to Malpensa.

Some of the connections are being added due to the prospect of increasing numbers of tourists from Asia, the carrier explained.

"Travel has recovered at a good pace and we are increasing flights to European routes to meet the increased demand in Asia. For example, the Bergen and Bodø routes are seamlessly connected to our flights to Japan," says Ole Orvér, Finnair's chief commercial officer.

In a subsequent statement, Finnair said it "will gradually implement continuous pricing in modern distribution channels – through Finnair.com and Finnair mobile app as well as NDC-enabled channels for agent partners".  The carrier claimed the initiative would ensure customers are offered "more competitive pricing" and do "not experience large price increases between booking classes".

NDC, the carrier explained separately, stands for 'new distribution capacity'. A "travel industry-wide initiative launched by the IATA [International Air Transport Association],  the NDC format "enables agents to sell the full airline product offering to their end customers in a more personalised and digital way", the carrier said.
