As the post-pandemic travel demand continues to soar around the globe, Fiji Airways has indicated that it expects to make a full recovery by the end of this year.
Speaking on the strong passenger recovery, John Checketts, the airline's executive manager for strategy, networks, and alliances, said: “The carrier's capacity from Fiji to Australia and North America is at around 120% of pre-pandemic levels. Capacity on New Zealand routes should reach 100% by the end of the year."
Fiji Airways claims that demands from destinations like Australia and the United States had been strong despite ticket prices being above pre-pandemic levels to help cover higher fuel costs.
Routes to Hong Kong and Japan, however, have been paused due to travel restrictions. However, as Japan and Hong Kong authorities slowly start easing the restrictions, flight capacities are bound to rise.
On the other hand, a few days back the Fiji government relaxed the requirement of a pre-booked Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) for travelers visiting Fiji from September 5, 2022, onwards. Travelers need to show proof of vaccination and travel insurance at the airport check-in desk.
