African LCC fastjet has announced its passenger statistics for July 2014.
Fastjet’s operations in Tanzania carried a total of 52,839 passengers and achieved a load factor of 73%, representing a 69% increase over July 2013.
Month-on-month, capacity rose by 8% with 72,355 seats flown during July compared to 67,425 in June. Revenue per-passenger was very strong with a 22% increase month-on-month.
Fastjet Interim Chairman and CEO Ed Winter said:
"I am delighted to see our capacity continue to rise as we maximise the utilisation of resources, particularly aircraft. This month's 8% increase follows the 12% increase in capacity announced last month and the 11% increase announced in May. This is in line with our plans to almost double utilisation between Q1 and Q3. August will see a further uplift in capacity with the introduction of flights to Harare in Zimbabwe, which have already moved from two to three flights per week following strong demand, and further additional frequencies on domestic routes.”
Winter added: “I am particularly pleased that we have achieved such a high load factor and made significant unit revenue gains despite the fact that all but four days in the month fell within Ramadan, when both business and leisure activities decrease considerably."
