Falko outlines second quarter portfolio activity
Regional aircraft lessor Falko Regional Aircraft added two aircraft to its managed portfolio through the acquisition of two E190 aircraft, it said in its second quarter portfolio summary. The two aircraft are on lease to Airlink from Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC), which was part of its 24 E-Jet portfolio deal with the lessor. ""Portfolio activity remained robust during the second quarter, completing transactions involving twenty-two aircraft and three engines,"" said Falko chief commercial officer Mark Hughes. ""This included the acquisition of the first two of twenty-four aircraft from NAC."" In addition, a letter of intent (LOI) was signed for the purchase of two E170 aircraft with leases attached. The lessor - recently divested by Chorus Aviation in a sale and purchase agreement worth $1.4bn to HPS Investment Partners - sold four ATR aircraft and two CF34 engines. LOIs were also signed in relation to the sale of five ATR and two Q400 turboprop aircraft. During the quarter, Falko delivered three aircraft on lease, all of which were to European operators. It also extended leases relating to a further four aircraft and one engine. Hughes continued: ""Supply-side constraints continue to impact the aviation industry to the benefit of our business as demand from airlines seeking additional leasing capacity remained heighted. This is demonstrated through our leasing activity numbers, closing five lease extensions involving four aircraft and one engine, as well as the placement of three aircraft on lease."" He added that there is continuing demand for aircraft and engines for teardown. As of June 30, 2024, its portfolio consisted of 260 aircraft on lease to 38 customers globally.
