The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has warned that a mix of wind, rain, snow and thunderstorms could hamper flights across multiple airports in the US.
Airports in Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Detroit, New York, Philadelphia and San Francisco could expect flights to be slowed by wind and clouds, the regulator said on January 12, with snow possible around Denver.
The warning came a day after the FAA grounded flights in the US for around five hours due to problems with a flight safety IT system. More than a week of winter storms caused travel chaos in the US either side of Christmas and contributed to Southwest Airlines, one of the nations main airlines, cancelling around 16,700 flights.
