FAA to allocate $970 million to improve 114 US airports
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is to award $970 million to improve 114 airports across the US, spanning 44 states, building on an existing award of nearly $2 billion for airport terminals announced over the past two years. The funding comes from President Biden’s Bipartisan Investing in America agenda and will be announced by US transport secretary Pete Buttigeg as part of the Administration’s Investing in America tour. “Under this administration, we are doing more to improve the travel experience than ever before, from expanding consumer protections to modernizing the physical infrastructure,” he explained. Grants will be used for various applications, including building new or expanded terminal facilities, improving security screening and baggage handling facilities, increase access to surrounding transportation links, and refurbish airport-owned air traffic control towers.  Notably, Chicago O’Hare International Airport will receive $40 million, while Los Angeles and San Francisco International Airports will be awarded £31 million each.
