The Federal Aviation Administration has fined aircraft-maintenance company Aviation Technical Services (ATS) $500,250 for shortcomings in its maintenance procedures while servicing 14 Boeing 737 jets owned by Southwest Airlines in 2008.
ATS allegedly failed to follow set procedures when detecting fuselage skin cracks in the 737 aircraft between January 2007 and March 2008, says the FAA. The company has stated that the issues were resolved as soon as they were discovered.
ATS has 30 days to respond to the proposed fine.
