The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has relaxed restrictions on in-flight use of electronic devices. Delta Air Lines and JetBlue are the first airlines to be approved for allowing passengers to use their Kindles, iPads and other electronic gadgets from gate to gate.
“I’d like to thank the FAA and especially Administrator Michael Huerta for their adoption of the committee’s recommendations and for moving very quickly to allow us to make this enhancement available to all JetBlue customers starting today,” JetBlue president and CEO Dave Barger said in a statement.
American Airlines will shortly follow once its paperwork has also been approved.
The FAA’s advisory panel found that such gadgets pose no safety risks to commercial aircraft.
