FAA and Asia Pacific Airlines at odds over grounding

Guam-based cargo carrier Asia Pacific Airlines has challenged a US grounding order made by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The FAA said APA was was “unable to demonstrate that its pilots were properly trained” and confirmed the suspension of the carrier effective February 1.

“Under the regulations, any flight check provided by these two individuals is invalid, meaning that none of the company’s pilots are currently qualified to fly," the FAA said.

The carrier said it has sought to challenge the order and was discussing the matter with the US regulator.
