Expedia Inc. fresh from investments in Orbitz Worldwide, Travelocity, and Wotif in recent months announced today it will take an additional 25% stake in its AAE Travel Pte joint venture with AirAsia taking it to 75% ownership. Expedia will put an additional US$86.3 million into the joint venture, AAE Travel was launched in 2011 and now operates Expedia-branded travel websites in Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Philippines as well as AirAsiaGo.com. The current deal is expected to close before June 30, 2015.
