Eve Air Mobility and Jeju Air collaborate on concept of operations for UAM in South Korea

Eve Air Mobility, designers and developers of the proprietary Eve eVTOL (electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) craft, are collaborating with Jeju Air to analyse the feasibility of flights on Jeju Island.

Creating new value for the aviation industry is an essential part of the largest low-cost South Korean airline’s growth, explained Taeha Park, head of UAM business task force at Jeju Air. “Just as Jeju Air popularized air travel in Korea, we intend to do the same for UAM,” he elaborated.

The jointly-written white paper, which examines the operational and commercial business case of establishing UAM services in Jeju island, includes analysis from a survey conducted by the airline earlier in the year. “We are taking a very measured and thoughtful approach to understand the needs, opportunities and challenges of each region,” clarified Augustine Tai, APAC business development lead for Eve Air Mobility, concluding that this study will “provide a suitable reference for all stakeholders keen on UAM in South Korea”.

The conceptual study will be available on Eve’s website to, in the words of the OEM, ‘encourage all those responsible for this ecosystem to evolve together’.
