Dronamics announced on Thursday that it has been awarded a €2.5 million grant by the European Commission's European Innovation Council Accelerator programme.
Founded eight years ago, Dronamics was the first business of its kind to be granted a licence in Europe. It says will use the EU funding to develop its cargo drone fleet and related logistics network around the continent, where it says "millions of people" reside in locations "that often take days to reach by traditional freight".
Dronamics said it aims to "democratise" the sector by "enabling affordable and sustainable same-day delivery".
According to Dronamics co-founder Svilen Rangelov, the grant will help the company in its aim to "revolutionise air cargo mobility".
