Lisbon-based euroAtlantic airways has stated it is looking for opportunities to enter the Turkish travel market. Speaking during a visit to Ankara and Istanbul, external affairs director Caetano Pestana was meeting with companies interested in partnering with euroAtlantic airways. “We are a well-established company that has also won respect in the industry for managing to achieve reciprocity with the US, despite being a small airline,” he said, stressing the company wants to expand into emerging markets.
Pestana said his company may increase the flow of tourists to Turkey because they “are very well located and could become a hub between Turkey, South America and Africa.”
Because euroAtlantic is licensed both in the US and the EU and has a good reputation, some African airlines blacklisted by the international aviation authority have contracted euroAtlantic Airways to operate flights on their behalf.
The company owns eight 767-300s and a Tristar 500, which it bought from TAP-Air Portugal in 1993 to start its long-haul ventures.
