The European Court of Justice in Luxembourg will rule today on a challenge by US airlines against the legality of the European Union’s Emissions Trading Scheme.
The ruling comes just 10 days before the ETS comes into effect on January 1. Should the court uphold the new law enacted by the European parliament in 2008, which it is expected to do so, airlines will be expected to comply despite their objections.
