Etihad reveals new orders for expanded Airbus fleet

Etihad Airways has made significant strides in growing its Airbus fleet, as announced during the second day of the Dubai Airshow 2025.

The airline has placed a firm order for six A330-900s, becoming a new A330neo customer. It also disclosed an order for seven additional A350-1000s and three A350F freighter, bringing its total commitments for the types to 27 and 10, respectively.

The airline's CEO Antonoaldo Neves said the aircraft will strengthen its operations across medium-haul, long-haul, and cargo.

The airline has selected Rolls-Royce to power these aircraft with the A330neo powered by the Trent 7000, the A350s and A350Fs by the Trent XWB-97.

Etihad also signed a deal with lessor Avolon at the show to lease 13 Airbus aircraft, consisting of nine A330neos and four A320neo family aircraft. The leased A330neos will bring its total of the aircraft type to 15. The leased A330s will also be powered by the Trent 7000.

“These additional A330neo and A320neo family aircraft give us the flexibility and efficiency we need for the next phase of our growth,” said Neves.

Deliveries from Avolon will begin in 2027 and run through 2028.

“The scale of our orderbook, bolstered by our order for 75 A321neos and 15 A330neos in July, has enabled us to ensure Etihad has the capacity required for its expansion plans,” said Avolon CEO Andy Cronin.

Etihad currently has an operating fleet of 115 aircraft.
