Ethiopian is to forge a joint venture company with LSG, Lufthansa’s subsidiary company that specialized on catering services. LSG has been managing Ethiopian catering facility for the past three years.
“We had a three year management contract and we are in the process to establish a joint venture with LSG,” Tewolde Gebremariam, CEO designate of Ethiopian, told Aviation News.
The management of Ethiopian is to re-tender the bid it recently put up to select international and local construction firms for the construction of perishable cargo terminal at its hub at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. “Several companies participate in the bid and the offers are by far higher than we anticipated and we have decided to retender it,” Girma Wake, the outgoing Ethiopian CEO, told Aviation News.
The management has also decided to upgrade the four star hotel Ethiopian is planning to build near its headquarters to five star. Ethiopian is under preparation to build a maintenance hangar, a cargo terminal, and a new head office.
