Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics services carried 750,000 tonnes of cargo in 2022 with flowers accounting for 110,000 tonnes. The airline released its 2022 achievements on twitter in which the airline reported operating 950 charter flights in 2022. The airline was also granted the IATA CEIV pharma certifications for airline and ground handling.
The cargo load carried by the airline included High-tech cargo - 54,500 tonnes, pharmaceuticals 30,000 tonnes and vaccines 1,500 tonnes, said the airline. Ethiopian carried 22,500 tonnes of salmon and 6,000 live animals.
Ethiopian operates 14 cargo flights, with nine B777-200LRF, four B737-800F and one B767-300F. The cargo carrier handles over 2,000 tonnes daily of which over 600 tonnes are transported in belly holds.
The airline is planning to grow its cargo network to 90 destinations and operate 37 freighter aircraft by 2035 as a part of its revised vision 2025.
