Electric Power Systems (EP Systems) is to supply its power integration technology for Regent’s electric seagliders.
EP Systems said the partnership with Regent is a "significant development" in bringing the 12-passenger Regent Viceroy seaglider into service by mid-decade.
EP Systems describes itself as a "leading global electric powertrain supplier for the aviation industry" with $8bn in orders from airlines and ferry operators in five continents, listing NASA, the FAA, Boeing, Diamond Aircraft, Plana, Safran, Supernal and VoltAero among its clientele.
“EP Systems is thrilled to partner with REGENT to provide the Energy Storage System and the power management system for this innovative Wing in Ground effect vehicle,” said Nathan Millecam, chief executive of EP Systems.
“We are pleased to have EP Systems on board as our battery provider for our full-scale prototype seaglider," said Regent chief executive Billy Thalheimer. "Their expertise in producing high-quality, efficient battery technology is second to none, and they share our deep commitment to safety," he added.
The Viceroy is a "12 passenger vehicle that operates exclusively over water, traversing the sea in one of three modes: hull, hydrofoil, or flight in ground effect", according to Regent.
