Envoy Air is set to retire the last of its aging Embraer ERJ145 aircraft. American Airlines had announced the fleet changes with Envoy in August 2022. As a part of the plan, 15 ERJ145s will be shifted to Piedmont Airlines while the remaining jet will be retired.
The airline has accelerated the retirement of its jet in the last few months with 22 operational jets in March 2023, only nine remain active as of today, due to retire soon.
Envoy flew the ERJ145 to smaller cities from Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, and Miami for many years. More than 150 aircraft were operated by the carrier at its peak, including the smaller ERJ140 and ERJ135 variants.
Speaking on the retirement of the ERJ145s, Dee Temples, Senior Vice-President of Air Operations, Envoy said: “As we transition away from the ERJ-145 and focus on our large [regional jet] operation, American continues to invest and have faith in Envoy’s ability to offer safe, reliable and cost-effective service to its customers. Envoy has invested significantly in the resources and infrastructure needed to support our Embraer E-Jet fleet.”
Envoy is planning to acquire six more E175s to support the fleet amid the ERJ145 retirements.
