Emirates has ordered eight additional A350-900 aircraft, worth $3.4bn at list price, as announced at the Dubai Airshow today.

The aircraft are expected to be delivered in 2031 and will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB84 engines.

The order takes Emirates’ total A350-900 aircraft commitment to 73 units, with 13 already delivered.

Combined with an order for 65 additional Boeing 777-9s , the airline’s total commitments to new aircraft announced at the Dubai Airshow are now worth $41.4bn at list price.

Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, said the entry into service of the Emirates A350 last November has already delivered additional capacity improvements.

“It has also enabled us to introduce Emirates’ latest inflight products to more customers, including our popular premium economy seats,” he said.

“We look forward to working closely with Airbus on the delivery of our remaining aircraft including the new units that we have ordered today.”

Together with the additional Boeing 777-9 order announced earlier this week, Emirates now has a total of 375 units of the latest widebody aircraft on its orderbook.

“This is a massive investment in our future, the future of flying better for our customers, as well as the future of aviation in terms of job and value creation,” Al Maktoum added.
