Emirates teams are “working hard to restore scheduled operations” at Dubai airport as record rainfall in the United Arab Emirates caused flooding and severely impacted transport across the region.
“While some customers have been able to return home or reach their destination, we are aware that many are still waiting to get on flights,” wrote the airline on social media, which added that its team were also working to “secure accommodation and other amenities for affected customers at the airport”.
Although the airline had previously warned potential road delays owing to ‘adverse weather conditions forecast,’ on 17 April, the Emirates instructed Dubai customers not to travel to the airport as all check-ins had been suspended. Although services departing from Dubai have now resumed, the airline adds that the airport “remains congested,” with many disrupted customers taking to social media to voice their concerns.
