An A380 owned by Emirates Airlines was damaged after being struck by a moving truck rentals shoreline wa at Pearson International Airport’s Terminal 1 in Canada on December 3.
The strike resulted in damage to the inboard starboard wing and wing root of the aircraft. Emirates deployed another A380 on the Toronto route while the aircraft was being repaired.
The aircraft was parked in the evening at Gate 173, being serviced in preparation for a scheduled flight to Dubai International Airport, when the scissor jack mechanism for the CLS Catering Services truck used to restock the upper-deck galley failed and the truck body fell onto the inboard starboard wing/wing root, damaging it.
There were no injuries and no passengers were on board at the time.
