Embraer gets FAA and EASA certifications for medical evacuation jet

Embraer's Phenom 300MED aircraft has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the Brazilian manufacturer announced.

The Phenom 300MED, Embraer said, is "a unique Medevac [emergency medical evacuation] solution for the Phenom 300 series aircraft" and offers "a fully-comprehensive medical solution”.

“We are pleased to announce the certification of the Phenom 300MED by the FAA and EASA,” said Marsha Woelber, vice-president of worldwide executive jets customer support and aftermarket sales, Embraer services and support.

Embraer said the Phenom 300MED interior was "developed and certified by Accenture-owned engineering services provider umlaut" and uses equipment by Aerolite, developer of an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for the aircraft, which is designed to evacuate two fully disabled patients.

The Phenom 300MED is refitted Phenom 300E, described by Embraer as being "the fastest and longest-ranged single-pilot jet".
