Embraer has secured 120-minute extended twin-engine operations (ETOPS) approval for its E190-E2 and E195-E2, allowing operators to fly direct routes over water and other remote areas.
Certification was awarded from the Brazil Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). As ETOPS certification requires the in-service fleet to reach cumulative flying hour milestones, the E2’s permission ‘comes later than expected due to the global pandemic which significantly reduced aircraft operations,’ explains Embraer.
President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation Arjan Meijer described the new permission as “an important additional capability for the E2, and a key enabler for more sales,” especially in the Asia-Pacific region. Aircraft flying routes with up to 120 minutes diversion time will now be able to use straighter, quicker and more fuel efficient routes.
