Embraer has delivered 47 jet aircraft in the second quarter (Q2) of 2023. At the end of June, Embraer reported a backlog of orders valued at $17.3 billion, in line with what it was at the end of 2022.
The 47 aircraft delivered in the second quarter (2Q23) was a 47% increase over the same period last year and well above the 15 delivered in the first three months of this year. In the first half of 2023, Embraer delivered 62 aircraft, a 35% increase over the 46 jets delivered in the first half of 2022.
In 2022, Embraer delivered a total of 159 aircraft, with 46 delivered in the first half and 113 delivered in the second, with the second half skewed by 80 being delivered in the last quarter of the year.
In the first quarter of this year, Embraer delivered 15 jets followed by 47 in the second quarter, placing it ahead of 2022. At the end of 2Q22, the backlog was valued at $17.8 billion, whereas at the same time this year it is valued at $17.3 billion.
The 47 aircraft delivered in Q2, 2023 included 10 E175s and seven E195-E2 commercial jets, while 30 were Executive jets. The executive aircraft comprised one Phenom 100, 18 Phenom 300s, six Praetor 500s and five Praetor 600s. In the first half of 2023, Embraer delivered 24 commercial and 38 executive jets, compared to 17 and 29 last year.
As of June 30, 2023, the commercial aviation backlog contains firm unfilled orders for 271 aircraft, including 173 E195-E2s, 16 E190-E2s and 82 E175s.
In its Q2 announcement, Embraer booked orders from American Airlines, Binter, SKS Airways, Scoot and Royal Jordanian Airlines, some of which involved contracts with aircraft lessors. American Airlines has signed an order for seven E175s which will be operated by subsidiary Envoy Air with deliveries to begin in Q4, 2023. By the end of next year, Envoy Air's fleet of E-Jets will grow to more than 141 aircraft.
Although it has not yet been added to the backlog, Spanish carrier Binter has placed a firm order for six E195-E2s, increasing the carrier's fleet of E2 jets to 16 when deliveries are completed. SKS Airways of Malaysia is adding ten E195-E2s, and also in Asia, Singapore Airlines subsidiary Scoot is adding nine E195-E2s.
Royal Jordanian Airlines has reached an agreement with Azorra to introduce eight E190/195-E2s into its fleet.
Embraer signed a contract with NetJets for the acquisition of up to 250 Praetor 500 jet options in a deal valued at more than $5 billion, with deliveries expected to begin in 2025.
