Embraer aircraft backlog reaches seven-year high
Embraer’s delivery backlog has reached its highest level for the last seven years, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer has revealed in its backlog and deliveries Q1 2024 report, highlighting that deliveries have also increased 67% in the first quarter of this year. The overall backlog volume went up to a value of $21.2bn during the Q1 2024, a 13% rise quarter-on-quarter, while the commercial aviation backlog also rose $2.3bn; an increase of 26% quarter-on-quarter. A total of 25 jets were delivered in the opening quarter of 2024 compared to the 15 delivered in the same period of 2023, with executive aviation rising from eight to 18 jets and showing “robust” growth. These deliveries represented Embraer’s highest Q1 total in eight years, with commercial aviation remaining flat year-on-year at seven aircraft (comprising four E195-E2s and three E175s). Currently, the manufacturer has delivered 12% of the total number required for the mid-point of its current year guidance for both executive and commercial aviation (25 of 206 units combined) and is currently implementing a plan to “mitigate its business seasonality”, aiming to maintain a stable production pace throughout the calendar year. Additionally, Embraer’s backlog increased 13% to $21.2bn in Q1 2024, with the biggest increase in the commercial segment (accounting for $2.3bn, or 26%). As of the end of Q1, its firm order for this business area stood at 381 E-Jets, 179 of which are E195-E2s and 187 of which are E175s (including American Airlines’ 90-strong order).
