Electra appoints Boeing veteran executive Marc Allen as CEO

Electra - a hybrid-electric short takeoff and landing (eSTOL) aircraft developer - has appointed Boeing veteran as its newest CEO.

"Electra is at the forefront of revolutionising air travel with its direct aviation model, bringing air travel closer to where we live, work and play – without airports, emissions, or noise," commented Allen. “Leading Electra at this pivotal moment is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Allen has served at Boeing for over 17 years. He led the $5bn customer finance business before spending nearly a decade on Boeing's executive council, where he served as president of Boeing International and oversaw critical enterprise-wide functions. As head of all venture businesses, he led Wisk Aero’s restructuring and full acquisition, focusing on the future of autonomous flight and serving as chairman. His most recent role was chief strategy officer & SVP strategy, corporate development & ventures. In addition, he served as SVP & president for Embraer partnership & group operations, as well as president of Boeing China.

Electra's founder and chairman John Langford said: “Marc’s exceptional background in global business and strategic leadership makes him the ideal choice to guide Electra into its next phase of growth. With over 2,000 orders for our 9-seat hybrid electric aircraft from customers worldwide, we are poised to become a global industrial champion.”

He further clarified on LinkedIn: “I am not going anywhere; I’m just splitting my job. I will keep the chairman role while Marc becomes the full-time CEO.”

Langford was previously founder and CEO of Aurora Flight Sciences, which was acquired by Boeing in 2017. He founded the company in 2020 after leaving the Boeing subsidiary.
