EL Al has introduced non-stop flights between Tel Aviv and Melbourne by June 2024. This route will be the first non-stop link between Israel and Australia. The airline recently signed a letter of intent (LOI) with the Victorian State Government to launch the route.
As per the LOI, the airline will introduce thrice weekly service using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner delivering 44,000 seats annually.
During the signing ceremony, Dina Ben Tal Ganancia, CEO, EL AI said: “We look forward to launching our first ever non-stop flights to Melbourne as we position Victoria as Israel's gateway to Australia. We thank the Victorian Government for its support."
The plans to launch this route dated to 2019 when the airline had introduced test flights on the route, but the plans got delayed due to pandemic.
The airline is also planning to launch services from Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) to Tokyo, Dublin, Porto and Istanbul later this month.
