Israeli carrier El Al Airlines has posted a full-year net profit of $25.4 million – a strong recovery from the $18 million loss the airline posted in 2012.
Revenue rose by 4.3% to $2.2 billion, with expenses up by 3.1% to $1.8 billion. The airline’s operating profit was $348.9 million, an increase of 11.1%.
During 2013, El Al carried 4.9% more passengers to 18.1 billion RPKs, with capacity up by 4.4% to 21.8 billion ASKs. El Al’s load factor rose by 0.4 percentage points to 82.9%.
During the fourth quarter of 2013, El Al posted a net loss of $3.7 million, which was an improvement on the $26.1 million loss reported in the same quarter in 2012. Operating revenue rose by 7.6% to $499 million; with expenses up by 3.2% to $429.7 million, operating profit was $69.3 million – a rise of 46.2% compared to the year-ago quarter.
