Egypt tourist numbers for November were up 20% from October to 600,000, still less than a quarter of what it was before the Arab Spring and still 39% down on November 2012 when 1.1m tourist visas were processed. With the military back in power it seems stability is returning to the main tourist hot spots on the Nile very slowly. It is interesting to note that although England and Germany still hold positions in the top five for Egypt tourist numbers they have been overtaken in huge numbers by tourists from Russia and the Ukraine as holiday prices for Egypt have fallen through the floor. This is of course a great benefit to airlines running between Russia and the Ukraine and Egypt and it should be expected that further routes and aircraft will be needed in coming months to service Russian demand, but demand from Ukraine will be affected by their own political problems there.
