The Egyptian Petrochemical Holding Company, Alexandria National Refining and Petrochemical Company (ANRPC), and an unspecified private firm are to invest $380 to build a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant.
The facility will have a capacity of 120,000 tonnes per annum and the SAF will be produced with used cooking oil using the HEFA pathway.
Egyptian news outlet Asharq Business quoted an anonymous government official as saying: “The preparation of the financing study for the project will be completed next April, and includes borrowing $280 million from abroad, provided that the project will be built on land belonging to the company ANRPC. It is targeted to start work on the project by the end of 2026.”
