German Efromovich, whose sole bid for Portuguese airline TAP was rejected, could still be in line to buy the carrier if the government restarts the sale. The initial offer was rejected by the government due to an alleged lack of financial guarantees.
Sergio Monteiro, secretary of state for public works, transport and communications, has revealed that the government may try to sell TAP in 2014 and that he saw no reason why Efromovich could not bid again since his strategic project for TAP was “very good”.
Media reports state that Efromovich met with Economy Minister Antonio Pires de Lima last month but no further details were revealed.
