Edinburgh Airport has promoted Peter Barnes to chief operating officer, after acting in the role in an interim position.
During his time at the airport, he has held senior roles across operations security, and airfield management, and also brings extensive experience outside of aviation with roles at firms such as Royal Bank of Scotland, Motorola and Gore-Tex.
As chief operations officer, Peter will lead day-to-day airport operations. He will oversee the airfield activity, terminal operations, security and resilience, and will also play a key role in shaping the airport's future as it heads towards a significant expansion project.
“Peter's deep understanding of our operation, combined with his proven track record of delivery, made him the ideal choice for this role," said Edinburgh Airport CEO Gordon Dewar. "His ability to analyse challenges and implement effective solutions has already brought significant benefits, and I’m confident he will continue to drive innovation and resilience as we prepare for an exciting period of growth.”
“We have incredibly committed people across our workforce who all place great focus on delivering an innovative, safe, and efficient operation that enhances the passenger experience,” said Barnes. “With a major expansion on the horizon, I'm looking forward to the opportunities ahead and continuing our great work together.”
