easyJet secures new rights issuance; opens up more routes for August

easyJet shareholders have voted to issue a further 19,860,406 Ordinary Shares, which follows on from the issuance of 39,681,092 shares on 29 June 2020

Commenting, easyJet Chairman, John Barton, said: "We're pleased with the strong support that shareholders have shown today by approving the Resolution. This is yet another sign of confidence in the Board and in the strategic approach we have taken during the pandemic. The placing will further strengthen easyJet's liquidity position and will also serve to underpin the balance sheet so that the airline remains well positioned to navigate the ongoing challenges.

Meanwhile, easyJet has confirmed flights to even more destinations from the UK will resume throughout August. From August 1, the airline will resume flying to more popular summer destinations from the UK including across Italy, France, Spain, Turkey, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia, the Balearics and the Canary Islands.

In addition to resuming flying on over 100 more routes to and from the UK in August, the airline is also launching flights on several new summer routes for the first time including from London Gatwick to Tirana.

“We are really pleased to be able to be resuming flights to even more destinations throughout August to get customers away on their much-needed summer holiday this year,” said Robert Carey, Chief Commercial, Marketing and Planning Officer, easyJet. “Of course, the safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew remains our highest priority. This is why we have implemented a number of measures enhancing safety at each part of the journey from disinfecting the aircraft to requiring customers and crew to wear masks. These measures will remain in place for as long as is needed to ensure customers and crew are able to fly safely as the world continues to recover from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.”
