easyJet passes 70-million-passenger milestone in Belfast

UK low-cost carrier easyJet on February 22 marked carrying 70 million passengers in and out of Belfast International Airport.

The Brennan family from Belfast were given free easyJet return flights in a surprise award after one of the group became that 70 millionth passenger en route from the city to Lyon."

Other celebrations, including cake giveaways, happened at the airport throughout the morning," the carrier announced.

"Our first flight from Belfast to London Luton took off for the first time 24 years ago," said Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK country manager.

The airline is to open two new summer routes from Belfast, to Antalya and Rhodes, and add another Airbus A320 to its fleet based at the Vinci-owned airport.

The airport said in a separate statement that it had been granted the ISO 14001 environmental certification.
