easyJet announces string of winter routes

EasyJet is all set to launch three new winter routes to strengthen its Scottish network offering more options for tourists looking out for winter sports destinations, Christmas gateways or summer escape.

easyJet will launch twice-weekly flights from Edinburgh to Rovaniemi, Finland throughout winter season. The Finnish Lapland will offer tourists magical winter experience with a chance to meet Santa Claus, see the Northern Lights and experience picturesque winter landscapes. Next the airline has launched two new routes from Scotland to sunny destination of Hurghada, Egypt, one from Glasglow and other from Edinburg with twice weekly year-round flights.

Commenting on the new routes, Ali Gayward, UK country manager, easyJet said: “We’re delighted to be launching even more new routes from our airports across Scotland to a range of fantastic destinations. The additional routes offer customers more choices for their winter travel plans, whether they’re looking for a festive getaway, a skiing adventure, or a sunny retreat.

Apart from the above routes, easyJet is also relaunching a winter route from London Southend to Geneva Airport. Geneva will become the sixth destination served by easyJet from London Southend, joining the likes of Malaga, Majorca, Faro, Amsterdam, and Paris.

The launch of this new route comes on the backdrop of easyJet’s decision to launch new year-round flight to Paris, starting October 29.

Expressing delight at the revived route, John Upton, chief executive, London Airport said: “Today marks another significant milestone for London Southend Airport as we proudly announce the revival of winter ski and city break flights to Geneva.”
