Eastern Airways will soon launch a new thrice-weekly service from its Humberside airport base to Esbjerg in Denmark in December 2022. The airline will also expand its services between Humberside and Cornwall Airport Newquay next year.
Besides Eastern Airways is also planning to introduce a new route linking Newquay and East Midlands airports.
Roger Hage, commercial director of Eastern Airways, said: “This is a major dual development for the Humber region as we join the UK center for renewable energy with Esbjerg in the west of Denmark. The renewable energy sector is fundamental to the employment and growth in the Humber as the energy estuary.”
East Midlands airport managing director Steve Griffiths added: “We know many passengers choose this airport because we are easy to get to and easy to get through. With a flight time of 1 hour and 20 mins, it will be so much quicker to reach one of the most beautiful coastlines in the UK and will be very welcome news to the thousands of people in this region who regularly make the almost 300-mile trip to Cornwall for holidays. The new connectivity will boost tourism, benefit our regional economies, and help establish links between complementary business sectors across the Midlands and the southwest of England.”
The airline’s seasonal route between Humberside and Newquay, which was launched last summer, will double in frequency to operate four times per week when it restarts in April for summer 2023. There will also be an extended season for the Humberside-Jersey route which will operate weekly from May 2023.
Eastern Airways will launch the daily East Midlands-Newquay service in February 2023. The new route will mark the airline’s return to East Midlands Airport after 2017.
“This is a major step in growing connectivity to the Cornwall base and the only Midlands service to the south-west of England. We want to ensure the right services are being offered given Eastern Airways is all about supporting the regions of the UK, connecting people and places,” Hage concluded.
