The Indian aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has asked airline CEOs for advice on how to reverse the US downgrade of its air safety ranking, according to local news reports. The DGCA is seeking a strategy to rectify the present FAA decision.
A category II safety rating means that the civil aviation authority does not comply with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) safety standards and is deficient in one or more areas, such as technical expertise, trained personnel and record keeping or inspection procedures.
As a result of the downgrade, United Airlines has ended its code-share agreement with Jet Airways.
