The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India is planning to expand its workforce by hiring 1,000 employees by 2030. With the rapidly growing aviation sector, India is poised to become the third largest aviation sector in the world and calls for a well-staffed regulatory body for operational efficiency.
Realising the need of this potential increase in workload in near future, the DGCA has planned this massive recruitment.
India is projected to add 100 aircraft annually as airlines look to expand business and the domestic passenger numbers are already way past the pre-pandemic levels.
Thus, the DGCA needs more staff to bolster its surveillance capabilities and maintain a good safety record in the country, as the skies will only get busier in the coming years.
The Indian airlines kept the DGCA on its toes last year with various technical and airworthiness cases. Last year alone, DGCA dealt with 450 technical snags between July 2021 and June 2022.
