Delta said that a key revenue figure rose 3 per cent last month compared with July 2013. The increase in passenger revenue for every seat flown one mile indicated that the airline was able to fill a few more seats and charge higher average fares.
Delta has predicted that its passenger revenue per seat-mile will rise by between 2% and 4% for the whole of Q3 2014.
Delta also stated that its passengers flew 19.97 billion miles last month, which is a rise of 2.8% year-on-year. Domestic traffic rose 4.7% while international travel increased 0.3%.
The airline increased capacity by 2.2% and recorded load factors of 87.5%, compared with 87.0% in June 2013.
