Cyprus Airways commences commercial flights on its first A220-300

Cyprus Airways has commenced operations on its first A220-300 with flight between Larnaca and Athens. The airline’s maiden flight took off from Larnaca (LCA) to Athens (ATH) on August 9, a little over a month after acquiring two leased A220 aircraft. Before the flight, passengers were welcomed by Cyprus Airways chief executive Paul Sies and chief commercial officer, Christos Limnatitis at the departure gates of Larnaca airport.

Commenting on the introduction of A220, Sies said: “The A220 will play a pivotal role in realizing our vision of a greener, more sustainable travel experience and superior comfort for our customers. Every time you choose to fly with the A220 of Cyprus Airways, you contribute towards a cleaner travel experience."

The airline plans to place both its leased A220 into commercial operations by September 2023.
