Copa Airlines launches new route to Austin marking its 15th US destination

Copa Airlines recently launched a new route connecting Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) from Tocumen International Airport (PTY), Panama City marking its 15th destination in the US with four weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays

Commenting on the new route Pedro Heilbron, chief executive officer, Copa Airlines, said: “We continue to expand our presence in the United States; with the inauguration of operations in the city of Austin, we further strengthen connectivity in the continent through the Hub of the Americas, located in Panama City. In this way, we reaffirm our purpose of shortening distances, connecting families, and strengthening commercial ties in the region.”

Last week the Copa Airlines began flying to Baltimore four times a week deploying its 154-seat Boeing 737-800.

It currently operates 209 weekly flights to the United States, including services to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Overall, Copa Airlines offers 33,834 weekly seats.

The 15 destinations that Copa serves in US are, Tampa, Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York, Denver, Washington, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Fort Lauderdale, Baltimore, and now, Austin.

Besides Baltimore and Austin, Copa Airlines recently began flying to Manta (MEC) in Ecuador marking its third destination in South American with thrice weekly flights. The other destinations are Guayaquil with 34 weekly services and Quito with 28 weekly flights.

In October 2023, the airline is planning to launch a new route between Tocumen and Jacinto Lara International Airport (BRM) in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. This would be Copa’s fifth destination in Venezuela, as it already flies to Caracas, Valencia, Maracaibo, and Barcelona.

An all-Boeing airline, Copa Airlines will close the year, serving 81 destinations in 32 countries.
