Contract workers at UK Airbus sites vote in favour of strike action
Contract workers for CBRE have voted in favour of strike action at Airbus' sites in Broughton, Wales and Filton, Bristol, the union representing them Unite said on September 2, 2024. Around 140 maintenance and cleaning workers are contracted by CBRE at these sites. Unite said workers were striking over low pay. Unite claimed: ""Strike action will severely impact cleaning and maintenance at both sites and cause disruption to Airbus’ operations."" However, a CBRE spokesperson argued: ""The action taking place involves a relatively small number of CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) employees who deliver services at Airbus' Broughton and Filton sites."" ""We have been advised that members of the Unite Union working for CBRE at our sites in Broughton and Filton have voted in favour of strike action,"" an Airbus spokesperson confirmed. ""Airbus employees are not involved in the strike and we are working to ensure business continuity through this period."" CBRE said it is ""actively working"" to resolve the matter and added it has ""robust plans in place to ensure there is no impact to Airbus' operations"".
