Condor 767 hit by bird at Moi International Airport

A 767 aircraft belonging to German leisure airline Condor failed to take off at the Moi International Airport Mombasa after a bird struck one of its engines. A statement from Johannes Winter, the Head of Communications at Condor said that a bird hit the left engine of the Boeing 767 shortly before take-off adding that the captain applied brakes and brought the aircraft to a complete stop. On board were 230 passengers and 10 crew members traveling to Zanzibar. All passengers were later taken to a hotel in Nyali where they spent the night, and a replacement aircraft carried passengers to Frankfurt. The Moi International Airport runway was closed for 25 minutes after the incident, which did not affect other operations at the facility.
