Christmas travel hit pre-pandemic numbers, according to Norwegian

Osl0-based Norwegian reported a 41% jump in passenger numbers in December as domestic Christmas travel returned to a level last seen in 2019.

The 1.3 million passengers Norwegian carried during the month represented a load factor of 77.8% and took it to 18 million for 2022 - triple the number for 2021.

"Solid operations during the holiday travel season concluded a positive year marked by a tripling of passenger numbers, a return of high demand for air travel and continued positive booking trends", the carrier said.

"On domestic travels in Norway, passenger numbers are now on par with pre-pandemic levels," said chief executive Geir Karlsen.
