CHOLERA CONFIRMED ONBOARD AMERICAN AIRLINES FLIGHT

A passenger onboard an American Airlines flight from Dominican Republic to Miami on Thanksgiving night was confirmed as having a suspected case of cholera. A confirmed diagnosis has not yet been received.

The airline sated that the unnamed passenger developed symptoms similar to those of cholera mid-flight otherwise he would not have been allowed to board. A doctor on board the flight was able to help him.

All passengers from Haiti and Dominican Republic are being screened.
Airport emergency services rushed the patient hospital where he is said to be in a stable condition and recovering.

American Airlines has taken the aircraft out of circulation for a thorough cleaning. It was keen to reassure the other patients on board that they are not at risk of infection as Cholera mainly spreads via water and food contamination.
