Chinese regulators offer more access to aviation while Emirates confirms roadshow program

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) is taking steps to increase connectivity by agreeing a new selection of permits within its jurisdiction. After the 2007 suspension of new domestic approvals over worries of too many private airlines in operation it seems the central government is now happy to aid its economy by creating more jobs and better connections. This move is a symptom of the economic times: Air China subsidiary Shandong Airlines is to launch Qingdao Airlines with China’s Qingdao municipal government and Nanshan Group; Xi’an-based Joy Air is preparing to launch Hefei Airlines with the Hefei municipal government; CDI Cargo Airlines, which is backed by the Zhejiang government, plans to expand into passenger transport. In addition the Fuzhou municipal government will launch Fuzhou Airlines in conjunction with Hainan Airlines.
Meanwhile, Emirates has selected six banks to arrange a series of investor meetings ahead of a possible bond issue.
The airline chose Standard Chartered, Citi, Deutsche Bank, Emirates NBD, JP Morgan Chase and Morgan Stanley to arrange the roadshows, which will commence from January 28. So long as markets continue to be stable a bond issue looks likely.
