The aviation industry in China is ready to soar again with three major Chinese carriers expected to fly over 140 international destinations in the upcoming winter season. Air China is planning to operate 52 overseas routes with 132 weekly flights adding destinations like Beijing to Johannesburg, Chongqing to Budapest, and Chongqing to Ho Chi Minh City.
China Southern Airlines said it will have 47 overseas routes covering 203 cities, as a part of its new winter schedule, including routes from Guangzhou to New York, Rome, and Jakarta.
China Eastern plans to operate 42 international routes including Shanghai to Toronto, New York, Paris, Frankfurt, Auckland, and Sydney.
Although these numbers are far lower than the pre-pandemic level, the Chinese civil aviation authority is hopeful for a better comeback going ahead.
It is observed that compared to the summer schedule from March 2022 to October 2022, international flights in the upcoming winter season show a significant increase.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), had released a report showing inbound and outbound flights likely to reach 420 for weekly international destinations in the winter schedule.
