China Southern Airlines saw its net profit drop nearly 21% from the same period last year to CNY1.69 billion which the airline blamed on challenges relating to the economic environment.
Elsewhere, the firm posted a near 8% year-on-year rise in its revenue for the first half of 2019.
During the first six months, the airline reached CNY72.94 billion ($10.2 billion) in revenue during the first six months, compared with CNY67.56 billion in the same period of 2018.
The airline carried 72.7 million passengers during the period, representing an 8% increase year-on-year.
For the second half of the year, China Southern stated that it believes the Chinese aviation industry might come up against some problems which include slowing growth, currency fluctuations, as well as changing customer preferences.
