China Airlines exercises option of another eight B787 Dreamliners

China Airlines has firmed up its option for eight more Boeing 787 Dreamliners adding to the previous order of 16 aircraft. The aircraft are expected to be delivered between 2025 and 2028.

China Airlines had placed a firm order for 16 Dreamliners in September 2022, with options for eight more. The airline has exercised this option, taking it to a total of 24 outstanding Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.

The added aircraft will further boost the airline’s capacity and help the airline meet growing demand for air travel. The airline plans to deploy the new aircraft on Oceania and long-haul routes.

China Airlines will become the second Taiwanese carrier to operate the 787 Dreamliner after EVA Air, which currently operates 12 Dreamliners, four 787-9s and eight 787-10s

The aircraft will be powered by GEnx engines and offer business, premium economy and economy class. These new aircraft will replace its aging A330-300 fleet.
